So I've narrowed my choices down to the 7 year Physician-Scientist program at RPI and NYU. The RPI med-program seems pretty awesome...but NYU offered me a full ride (including room/board). What do you guys think?

NYU is a nicer place! You will have a great time there...but will have to deal with the MCAT, pre-med research, EC's, and the stresses of applying to medical school. Nowadays, the acceptance rates at most medical schools is from 1-6%!!! Which is ridiculous. I got into Emory, Carnegie Mellon, Georgetown, NYU, and state schools (like Rutgers), but I am still choosing RPI/AMC. If worse comes to worse, I can transfer out after the 1st year.

RPI is one of those places where you have to really be creative and adventurous and not snobbish about social activities because the city that it is in doesn't have alot of to offer, the campus itself has alot of activities, the program is a great opportunity, but you will need to be able to reassure yourself of the pros and cons of why you're choosing to go to a college that's not in a big city, i'm just saying this because the last thing to do is approach RPI with a negative attitude and telling yourself --oh if i went to this other school say NYU there would be more girls, clubs, parties etc..... i'm just saying all this from reading your posts sickofflorida over the past few months and you just seemed dead set on having all your life's problems solved by going to a school in a big city etc-- and there was one post that said something about depressing troy i don't remember, but i think gangsta posted back on that one giving his pros and cons--

I have a good attitude. At least I am leaving Florida for good. And, Troy is just 140 miles away from NYC which is 2.5 hours. Not too bad considering Boston is even farther away. And I want to go sledding and skiing! Upstate NY is just the place for that kind of stuff.
