I received a link to fill out the supplement for AMC. I have not heard anything about my admission or scholarship offers from RPI. Also, do I need to pay another $100 fee for Union/Albany supplement as well? How tough is RPI/Albany? I heard RPI is bad for grade deflation. Please share your thoughts.

Hey satacer,

First off don’t worry about admission into RPI. They send acceptances in march. Also you really need to strong-arm the financial aid offices ALL THE TIME once you’ve gotten into the med program.

Also Yes you need to pay the $100 fee for Union/Albany as well.

RPI doesn’t have “grade deflation” it’s just very hard to get an A (engineering school, people). As a second year in the med program, I have only seen organic chemistry lecture actually put grades on a curve with the rest of the class, but the rest of my classes don’t do that.

RPI/AMC’s difficulty is very much dependent on your own strengths. Right now you’re required to get a 3.5 Sciences GPA and a 3.5 overall GPA. The classes tend to be hard and require a bit of studying to do. Fortunately the humanities department isn’t as difficult some times, and the philosophy courses are actually quite fun.

At the same time most students have a pretty straightforward time getting grades above that requirement (studying vs grades is a linear curve in college). You don’t have a ridiculous course load, especially since AP credits will ease off a lot of requirements. Also the med school doesn’t require you to take MCATs.

Keep up the gpa, do research your junior year/summer before med school, and you’re good to go.

Yes, got the link too. However, didn’t realize that had to pay fees again (paid once for Union-AMC application). Will the interview be combined for both the programs or separately?

Any one applied to both and got the interview call?

BTW, Good luck satacer

Hi Criticalfreeze,

Thanks for the response. It was very helpful. Are ypu in the RPI/Alabany program? How do you like the program? Please pm me mcotocjb@yahoo.com.

Hey Itsjai, Good luck pal. I am not going to apply for other Albany track schools. Only RPI.

I’m a graduate of the RPI/AMC program. Feel free to ask any questions and I’ll help out as much as possible.

I just got notified that I was accepted to the Physician Scientist program. How was financial aid at RPI and AMC because tuition at both places are really high? Did you have to take out a lot of loans? Anything about financial aid would be really helpful
