Accepted + RPI medal :D

Accepted with a $5K Leadership Award!
BTW, the Admitted Students Site uses the same technology/layouts/whatever as UChicago’s. Just found that funny (:

Not surprising since UChicago’s VP, Admissions was hired from RPI after last year’s admissions season.

Potpourri: It will cost about $22k/ yr to attend and I’m not too sure if I can swing that. Still waiting to hear back from a few other schools. I was really pleased to hear that the RPI fight song is awesome. Also, since this is potpurri, the capital of Thailand is Bangkok.

Waitlisted. I wouldn’t have been able to attend anyway because of financial issues (I’m International, wasn’t able to send in a certification of finances form because I didn’t have enough savings), but I am sort of surprised.

Also I’m Hispanic and I come from a school with a pretty bad rep. Well, at least that’s what it seems like lol.
I’m not too sure if I can go because of money, but I am really considering RPI. I’m going to try and save up to make a trip out to the campus and check it out.

DD accepted,. WGPA 3.6, SAT over 1500 out of 1600 (NM finalist) from very selective public high school, decent EC’s.

We are happy.

It doesn’t say that I was accepted into a certain major. If I selected “Computer Science” on common app and was accepted, does that mean that I was accepted into the CS major?

RPI gave me a much better financial package than WPI.

Congrats, Randwulf.

Unless one of the current students chimes in here, my suggestion would be to call the school tomorrow. One phone call and you will have your answer and know for sure.

My guess would be that you are in CS.

Randwulf
I think one of the advantages of a tech institute is that you generally get admitted to the entire institute, not a particular “college of”. This allows some flexibility to explore different subject areas before settling on a major, typically by sophomore year. Your designation on the common ap was so the school can get an idea of interest. This was the case in my tech school experience. I found it was different when my son and I visited universities with the traditional college structure. I asked this question during our RPI visit and I think there is same flexibility (except maybe for the special programs like architecture). The admissions officer admitted he had changed majors three times when he was at RPI. You should certainly call the school to confirm.

randwulf, we have the same question, see my thread on arch

I got accepted and got the 10k Rensselaer grant and the 15k Medal.

My SATs combined were… 740 reading, 800 math, 760 writing.
GPA
3.6 UW
4.5 W

I do regular stuff like track, cross country, NHS…

I applied for PHYSICS

I’m now wondering if i can afford the about 20k/year loans i would have to take out… And whether it is worth it. I guess I will decide when i have all acceptances and financial aid packages.

Accepted, there was a little song playing when I checked it online today. Loved it, just waiting for the mail. They’re covering a good amount but I expected more, I’m gonna repeal for more?

got the email about admission notification, when checked it it said due to the special nature of the program admission decision will be released thru postal mail only huh

any idea what this means also did apply for bs md program at albany med help

DS was accepted and will attend! RPI is his first choice school and we’re delighted.

Stats:

3.25UW/3.4W
31 ACT
2030 SAT (1450/1600)

Decent EC’s
Excellent Essays
Excellent recommendations from Principal and English teacher; probably strong (didn’t see) from Physics teacher.
Full pay. (although he did get a small merit Leadership Award!)
