I applied B.S./J.D.—Science, Technology, & Society-Law Program and on March 11th (whenever acceptances were supposed to be released), I received this,
“March 11, 2017
Due to the special nature of the program, your admission decision will be released via postal mail only. Thank you for your patience.”
I have been patient over the last three weeks waiting for the mail to come, however, I still haven’t received anything. I want to call the admissions office, but I don’t want it to reflect poorly on my application if decisions haven’t yet been made. I’m just very disappointed in this whole process because now if I am admitted, I cannot attend any accepted student’s days. So basically after this long rant haha, my question is: WHEN do you think I will receive my admissions decision? Has anyone else applied to one of RPI’s accelerated programs and received their’s? Or, in the past, when did others receive their decision?
@figgie13 - I would call the admissions office tomorrow. This is a very reasonable question to ask and I would be shocked if this would somehow reflect on your application decision.
My son applied to the BS/JD program as well. Om 3/13, admissions advised us his application advanced to Albany Law on Feb 19 & that decisions were being held up waiting for the law school, the final step. At that time (3/13), they said to expect an answer in two weeks via mail. It sounds like decisions will come direct from Albany Law rather than from RPI
@NJFather Thanks! Guess I didn’t get in then haha.
No, likely the opposite. If you have not heard, it likely means RPI approved you for step 1 & it is with Albany waiting for them to select 20 applicants. It was strongly hinted if Albany Law did not select my son, RPI would offer him standard admission. Good Luck!
@NJFather Thank you so much for your help! So if you talked to RPI on the 13th, do you suspect decisions to be mailed by this week?
that is my guess. I specifically mentioned concern that he would not hear in time to plan for the April 8 admitted students day & was told decisions will be out “well before then”. Tomorrow marks the “two weeks” since they made this commitment so- yes, based on this conversation, I expect you both will have a snail mail response this week. Waiting is horrible and, depending on the post office makes it even worse. If nothing arrives by Tuesday, I plan to reach out to the two people I spoke with previously & will post an update.
@NJFather Thanks! I’m hoping to hear by this week whenever all the rest of my decisions come out, however the NC postal service is not known for delivering packages on time.
@NJFather Hey, have you received anything yet? I still haven’t
I received an email response from Heather, the program coordinator. Decisions were mailed “on Friday or Monday” and financial aid information will follow shortly. Good Luck!
In case anyone wanted to know, I was accepted! I’ll be happy to post my stats if any future applicants wish to know.
Congrats, so was my son w/ 35 ACT, 3.72 GPA
Congrats. My S is a freshman there now, and loves the school.
You have made an excellent choice.
Have any BS/JD admitted students received merit aid notifications yet? If so, did it come electronically or via snail mail like the acceptances?
@NJFather I didn’t get a snail mail package, but I was notified of my merit aid on the application portal.
Thanks @figgie13 . Is this on the admit.rpi-admisisons site? If so, my son looked, but was unable to find a tab with this info.
@NJFather That’s where I saw mine! It was under the “Status Update” part.
thanks @figgie13 . That tab does not appear for my son. I called today. Fin Aid office told me it would be 1-2 weeks before he finds out if he is offered any merit aid. This is a frustrating start…!
