RPI Male/Female Ratio

For a girl considering RPI, how bad is it?

Does no one have anything to say because it’s really just that bad??
Oh god…

Since it is an engineering school, there will be more guys than girls but im pretty sure they are improving that ratio. For a girl it’s probably like heaven there.

ask this on the class of 2017 forum you’ll get more and honest answers:

I was at the admitted students reception in Southern California earlier today. I think there were as many females as males, if not slightly more. For a male, this should not be an issue as there are female colleges in the area. Russell Sage College is just downtown. There is also St Rose, Skidmore etc.

In my opinion, it’s probably a better idea to date someone from another school, especially at a relatively small school like RPI. Less distraction and easier to deal with if things don’t work out. Gives a good excuse as well as a destination to leave campus. Another consideration is suppose you stick together upon graduation? Trying to find mutually satisfying employment in the same geographic location complicates things. What I said about dating someone from the same school doubly applies to place of employment. Trust me on this one!

My daughter is going to RPI even though there are more males than females. In her high school engineering classes, she has been working with and competing with male students all along, so college will be similar. When visiting the college twice, I have noticed plenty of female students, so I do not believe that you will feel uncomfortable.
