RPI or Rutgers?? Fun vs. Boring

I want to do business as an undergrad and then eventually do law. I got into the business school for rensselaer and Rutgers. I def. want to study abroad at some point as an undergrad.
Rensselaer costs 55,000 but they gave me 32,000 in scholarships and 10,000 in financial aid. so id be paying 15 grand a year for rpi. about the same amount i would pay for rutgers which costs 20,000
SOO rpi and rutgers would cost the same for me but RPI is a WAYY better school, only problem is that i am a very social person and idk if rensselaer is the place for a girl like me. did i mention that rpi is 70% percent boys =/ and I hear that it is very depressing there. Troy is a very boring place as well. Then Rutgers.... i hear is a lot of fun (a party school) and it is nearby where i live. SOO is it worth it going to a boring school that is very good ?? I am not sure =/

Is that “10,000 in financial aid” loans, or is it more scholarship/grant money?

Run the numbers for both of these places through [FinAid | Calculators | Award Letter Comparison Tool](<a href=“Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid”>Award Letter Requirements - Finaid) and see what they look like.

RPI is a school on the move with a great reputation getting better. Troy is not that bad and RPI works to improve life on campus, which will be your focus. Have you spent time on campus talking to a lot of students?

that 10,000 is in federal loans. the 32,000 is scholarships and grants. And i plan on visiting RPI ASAP to see what campus life is like… but I am a very social person and I hear rpi is a very depressing place to live =/

Troy sucks. I live across the river, and hate driving in because it’s ugly and kind of depressing. However, I do have a few friends who go to RPI, and they are doing a ton of research, having fun, and loving the school. Plus, I think it’s a little shallow to say one school is “fun” and the other is “boring.” You will get a top notch education at either uni, and have fun. Pick the cheaper one.

I’m a senior at RPI…and honestly it’s as fun or boring as you make it for yourself. There are plenty of frat parties, but obviously not on the same scale as at Rutgers (My dad did his phd there so I’m pretty familiar with it). I don’t know who told you RPI is depressing, but it’s not really true…the students that like to complain about it are the ones that stay in their rooms all day long. Troy isn’t the best city (but then again neither is Newark or New Brunswick - I don’t know which campus you’d be in). That said…honestly yes you’re probably likely to have a better social life at Rutgers, but a much better education at RPI…so it really depends on what you want. We also have a lot of clubs/sports teams that allow you to be really social if you want
