RPI Orientation Sessions?

it says there are five orientation sessions for this year.
do i have to attend all five sessions or one of five?

im planning to go abroad this summer
i hope i need to attend only one!! :)

there's no other required schedule for the summer right?

You choose one of the five, it is for your parents too.

oo okay lol tahnks
so there’s nothing more i have to attend during the summer right?

You have the accepted students thing which is in May I think and then the orientation in the summer that is like a week before school starts… earlier if you choose to do the overnight NRB things.

From my own experience, I had a horrible time at the accepted students day and during orientation. Both seemed very overwhelming to me and I really kind of just wanted to go home or pick another college. What you get is not a true representation of RPI (unless you enjoy yourself), if you don’t have a good time I’d say to hang in there and just get into the academic year. What bothered me the most was being here and not having any work to do… the anticipation isn’t a fun feeling.

You go to one session in the summer to register for classes. The week before classes you have dorm bonding activities and a day activity (hiking, kayaking, dance camp, etc. ) that you sign up for in the summer.

By the way, definitely make an effort to talk to people you meet on CC. JoshuaGuit and I met on here and have been dating for almost a year. :)

You will want to go in summer - even if you are more than 300 miles away - the classes fill up and it is too overwhelming to attend these hugely informational sessions and move in and leave home all at the same time!

That’s not true. They reserve slots for different orientations so that SO5 kids aren’t left out (though this does mean that some SO1 kids will be unable to join a class that’s not even half full, if others got there first).
