<p>Hey what would my chances at being accepted as a transfer to RPI after a year at RIT given the following stats:</p>
<p>High School</p>
<p>3.25uw GPA: Fairly low first three years (3.0uw-3.1uw) but my senior year I had a 3.65uw with all honors an AP classes
SAT: 630v 570m 580wr
Quite a few ECs in high school including student government</p>
<p>College: I'll be attending RIT in the fall and this is about what I'll be shooting for as far as grades and ECs for my first year, so these stats are entirely hypothetical, but I'm asking you to treat them as if they were real.</p>
<p>3.5-3.7 GPA
I am going to try to get involved in a bunch of ECs here such as the school newspaper, student government, and a business related club or something along those lines.</p>
<p>I'll be applying as an Information Systems Management major in the school of business here.</p>
<p>I know 2 people personally who have transfered to RPI their second year from community colleges. Obviously I think you would have an advantage coming from RIT, which is more rigorous academically. Try to keep your GPA up as you say, and I don't think you should have too much of a problem, but you should always keep your options open. </p>
<p>I am guessing thy would overlook SAT scores, etc in light of recent accomplishments, but really don't know how it works.</p>
<p>How do you know you aren't going to like RIT? Maybe you should just focus on doing well there instead of already worrying about transferring, otherwise you might get distracted. Good luck!</p>
<p>Well I may love RIT, but the way I've been looking at it this way: If I can get into a school that has a "better" business program that attracts more recruiters and offers me a better financial aid package (RPI has financial aid offerings that are statistically better than RIT's, this coupled with my EFC of about 3800 would be a huge plus) then I would have to absolutely love RIT, enough to make me turn down a better school that would cost me less in the long run and would better help me get a job after graduation.</p>
<p>I certainly do see your point though, stressing out about it now is not going to really help me out much.</p>
<p>Note that RIT's cost of attendance is lower than RPI's too. Plus the aid may not be that great for a transfer student. (That's a hard one to predict though.) My guess is that you'll be happy at RIT and do well there.</p>
<p>My advice would be to enroll in RIT this fall expecting the very best. If you do, by December any thoughts of transfer will probably be ancient history.</p>
