I have been accepted at each of these Universities (still waiting on my reaches) and am trying to decide what my best option is. I am in Oregon, so Oregon State would probably be quite cheap but the prestige of Purdue and RPI beat it out... Considering my families financial need, and if I needed to take out loans to afford RPI or Purdue, how much would you limit the amount in loans for four years? I know that major choice is a big player in the ability to pay back loans, but I believe my chosen path will allow such burdens...

I will be majoring in computer engineering. What are your thoughts?

If lack of money is a problem, it’s hard to say that you should bypass OSU for the others. Especially if you think you’ll stay in the Pacific Northwest to start your career.

All are very good universities. Isn’t the COA at RPI up to nearly 60 grand?

“so Oregon State would probably be quite cheap but the prestige of Purdue and RPI beat it out”

No, they don’t. Attend Oregon State. Trust me you will regret taking out loans. If you really want to attend those then max 40k loan for four years. You don’t want to paying loans when you are 50.

Post the total cost(including room and board) for you of attending Oregon State, RPI, Purdue, Case Western. How much is your family paying out of pocket and how much will you have to take out loans…

Yes RPI costs have risen significantly. However, I have heard RPI graduates have an easy time finding high-paying jobs following graduation…
