RPI vs Syracuse Renee Crown Honors Program

Hi everyone! As the May 1st deadline for deposits is approaching, I just want some of your opinions about RPI and Syracuse. Here or some of my pros and cons, as I see both schools:

RPI:
pros - well known, rigorous academics, golf team (I play varsity golf for highschool), decent campus
cons - Troy, male to female ratio, and Troy

Syracuse:
pros - decent city, great campus, good m/f ratio, if I attend, the honors progam will fund my research and study abroad with no expense to me
cons - not as recognized as RPI for engineering, no golf team

Also, I plan on going into aeronautical or automotive engineering (possibly automotive design), and the size of the school doesnt really make a difference to me.

i’d say syracuse (and i live within 10 min of RPI)

You don’t really notice the lack of girls here, so your cons would just be Troy (which is a pretty big con lol)

I’m comparing RPI with Lehigh. What do you know about marketability coming out of one vs. the other for engineering? I want to carefully weigh U. of Maryland and Penn State’s engineering programs as well just because of the social experience.
Mostly, I want to know if any of the negative info. about the layoffs, and resignations is affecting the students.

I apologize for being rude, but should it not be your son taking responsibility for looking up and making his own decisions on schools rather than the parent?

If you want graduation stats, they’re all on the website. Most resignations are coming because the professors were offered better spots at other universities, and their missing spots are instantly filled with another professor just as, if not more, qualified.

Behind the scenes issues that you are asking about do not effect students as much as people seem to be making them out to be. If you want to see how students like RPI, take an afternoon and spend it on campus taking tours/asking random students what they think.
