RPI vs UIUC

<p>Need your help to make decision</p>

<p>My son got admitted by RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) and UIUC of engineering school. Both are good school and at the same rank. RPI is 2hrs away from home, and UIUC is 15hrs away from home. I need to pay more $12K/yr for UIUC than RPI. My son prefers UIUC because his reasons: it is far away from home and it is big. I think the reasons are not enough for me to pay $12K a year for him, because this is a very, very heavy burden for my family. </p>

<p>Finances are finances. It UIUC was possible I would try to make it work, maybe contact financial aid. But RPI is not a bad fall back plan by any means.</p>

<p>I would go RPI, especially if your son plans on staying in the northeast after school.</p>
