RR reading strategy vs. other methods

I just took a practice SAT test and I used the RR reading technique and got about 9-10 wrong in all for the cr section...most of them on the Reading passages. So i was wondering if people like other techniques other than RR and if they want to share it with everyone... ive used noitaraprep's method and that kind of worked and kind of didn't...
So now im thinking about combining both of their techniques into one by bracketing the parts of the passage where the questions ask for...and by reading fast but slowing down on the bracketed part. and using RR's method by critically looking at every question.
U think this is a good idea...or do u have some better techniques u think will help???

i first look at the questions. the type that are like primary purpose and tone of the WHOLE passage i skip till the end. then i look at the first line designation question. lets say it says to read till line 17, i read till line 17 and then focus on line 17 to answer it. then i just keep going and answer the big idea questions at the end. for dual passages i do the same thing. only diff is that i answer questions that have to do with both passages at the end.

I usually read 1-2 paragraphs (depending how many paragraphs there are) and then look at the questions that I can answer right then. I usually miss 6 passage based on critical reading, but 2-3 are from the short passages >_<.
