It’s definitely one month (one month and one week to be exact)

I got a fortune cookie that said “Pack you bags. An exciting destination awaits you”. This obviously means that I will get in. So goodby to all you three percent chance applicants. I’m going to have a party!

My school didn’t have updated transcripts with 1st sem junior year until late January/early february either. I emailed CEE before applying and told them about that, and they said i could just send in my updated transcript later.

@sMITten thanks for clearing up information about the official scores! are you a former Rickoid?

I thought that due to the early application deadline that nobody would have updated transcripts. The one I sent didn’t have first semester grades on it. How do I get it to them now?

I agree, most schools probably didn’t have updated transcripts. When I emailed, Maite told me just to send mine in later. You can do that too, and also maybe shoot them an email saying that you are sending an updated transcript.

Hey guys, I’ll probably apply to RSI next year and I had a question about recs. For the past year or so I’ve been doing a project at a lab at a university under the ‘supervision’ of this RA. However, in practice what happens is that I do my work by myself and he sits in the corner and only assists me on the few occasions when I have a question about where some piece of equipment or glassware is located – he doesn’t have a background in my field, and he’s not my mentor. So there’s no real relationship there.
Do you think it would be valuable to get his recommendation? If only to verify that I’ve been doing wholly independent work.

Depends on whether or not you think he’d have good things to say about you. I don’t really know how you’d judge that, but if he’s a good writer and/or is impressed by your abilities then it might be a good idea. I know that’s probably not much help, but…

@Leatherlibrarian, let me make a suggestion. Get three letters of recomendation, even though you only have to send in two. I made the mistake of assuming that my teacher would put in the effort to wright the letters of recomendation that I deserved, but only one of them did. The other wrote the letter (as far as I can tell) in one morning a few days after I told her that I needed to have received it even though I gave her a month’s notice. With three letters of recomendation, if you think that one of your letters of recomendation is not up to par, you can send in the other two.

Hey, question for any international people, what was the application process like?

Guys we need something to talk about…lets compare the total hours of sleep we got last week xD

I got a total of 9 hours for the ENTIRE week :D

How about you guys?

Sent from my SGH-T959V using CC

dude what? i got like 9 hours each night

^Agreed :). I got about 49 hours of sleep last week.

Wow I wish I got that… I got around 2-2.5 hours each night haha. Yeah I don’t sleep much xD

Sent from my SGH-T959V using CC

Don’t be mistaken: last week was a very good week for me (sleep-wise). There’s some weeks when I get an hour or so of sleep a night… :)

I don’t mean to cause more sleepless nights, but scanning through the RSI threads in CC for the last few years I found that CEE had sent out acceptance/rejections as early as the start of 6th week after the deadline, and as late as the start of the 8th week.
We are now in week 6 since the deadline for this year. It’s possible we might hearing from them as early as this week.

Nahh Maite said that we would be getting them 1st week of March this year, so don’t panic everyone :P

@ratdeno,
Good to know I’m not alone haha xD

Sent from my SGH-T959V using CC

Actualy, in previous years the rejections letters were sent out before the acceptence and alternate letters. I suspect that those who are rejected will receive their letters the first week of March and those who are accepted will receive theirs slightly later. In previous years those who were accepted or alternates knew so before they received their letter simply because they hadn’t recieved one. So if you are rejected, please notify us so that we can build up some false hope! :)

@ Bimby3 - yes I am a Rickoid. Once a Rickoid, always a Rickoid! Glad I could help.

Sorry I haven’t been here much for help.

Hey guys, while you are all waiting for decisions, so are the rest of us who applied to be your bosses :-).

@sMITten, Tell us if you get in

Hey guys,
Can someone please give me an idea of where I might stand in the app decisions?

I’ve done stem cell research at a University of Cali Med School, 2320 SAT, 234 PSAT, 800 SAT II Bio, number 1 at my school, got all As in 6 AP classes last semester (5.0 GPA), 5 in AP Bio, 5 in AP Euro, and did Stanford’s EPGY for Biotech two summers ago. I have a 4.0 unweighted, and a 4.5 weighted from 9-11/ 4.67 weighted from 10-11. I’m also captain of my science olympiad team and president of my biology olympiad club.

However, I’m not an ethnic minority and I haven’t gone to any national level olympiads. Also, I feel that my essays could have been better (though they weren’t weak). I did demonstrate my passion for biology and science in them, but I should have worked on my essay organization a little bit more
