Rsi 2012

Could someone please answer this question - Would it be disadvantageous to have only SAT scores (I did get a 2400) and no PSAT scores? Winter break has already started at my school and we still haven’t gotten our PSAT scores…

The online CEE app asks to report either the PSAT or act or sat scores, correct? Having said that, the app instructions on the other hand state that a 220 on the PSAT is a requirement. So which one is it? I have a 210 PSAT but 34 ACT.

So how do you print the PSAT score report? Or should I include a copy of my official score report?

Do you guys know where I can find the phone number to directly call CEE about questions?

I’m pretty sure this is fine but I have to check:

I have not yet submitted my application, but my school (since it was going on break) has already sent in my certified transcript and standardized test scores.

has anyone done this in the past? i’m pretty sure that CEE will save the envelope with the transcript, but i wanted to see if anyone has done this before (and had the whole thing ultimately get delivered).

atomicbaseball or any other rickoids, if you’re comfortable with it, could you post/link to/message your stats? more importantly, essays? If you would like (so you can see that I’m not copying or doing something stupid), I can link to/send my essays.

Also, skimming over previous posts in the RSI 2012 thread, the Korean “international” RSI attendee is from my US school, Andover. And yes, he’s ripped XD

It is very tempting to post a chance me, but I wouldn’t want to for myself/others become ill or over confident …

Hey does anyone have any advice on what I should do in the case of a course I took no longer existing?
I took AP Computer Science AB at the time when it still existed but it’s not on the RSI application anymore. My school is able to change it to say “College Computer Science” and list it as a college course. And then I could put it in one of the fields for “other” on the application. do you think that would be better?

I am a little bit confused. It says that the school is to send the official transcript and certified test scores. Why can’t I just send them in my application?

@RSIuser:

Where does it say that the school must send the official transcript and certified test scores?

On the application just before it askes the personal information (name, gender, etc).

Hey guys, just do your best on every part of the application. Stats is not the only thing CEE considers. Many applicants with 240/2400 got rejected before.

@RSIuser

yeah, you’re right. I didn’t see that before.

Research experience is helpful but not necessary (I did physics at RSI with no prior research experience). It’s actually pretty rare for math, where they tend to use competitions as a proxy.

For the purpose of filling out the coursework section, would AP Biology be classified as “Honors” or “College”? I took it at my high school.

AP should be “college” on the form.

I’m willing to do “chance me” for people. Just give standardized test score stats, extracurricular activities, research experience, and major math and science awards.

SAT test scores
Math-700
Reading-670
Writing- 650

Extracurriculars
began a chess club
All American swimmer
I am working with my school’s superintendant on reforming the class rank system

Research subject- math
experience-I once solved an incredibly difficult problem that my calc teacher couldn’t and then wrote several algorithms that solved a wide range of very difficult problems. I thought that the research was original and sent it to a professor for review, but it wasn’t. However, he was so impressed with my work that he invited me to meet with him and complimented my work as something he would expect to see “from a graduate student who had been in math for six or eight years”. I wrote all about it in my essays and I think that that quote may make a difference.

I have also taken two college physics courses and many, many, college math courses, though a lot of them will not be compleated untill next semester. My highest level math course, which I plan to take next semester, is partial differential equations.

My test scores are bad, but my essays and teacher recocomendation are excelent. Do you think my odds are above fifty percent? Thank you for your help.

This just in. Quite literaly two minutes ago I found out that I got an 800 on the SAT math 2 subject test. Will that make up for my other scores?

Hey guys, I can’t find RSI under the drop down score recipients on the SAT college board website. How are people sending their official sat or sat subject test scores to RSI?
Thx much

Your test scores are way below RSI average and you have no major math or science awards.

Though the recommendations / research experience might help a little bit, I would have to say your chances are less than 50%.

Sorry for re-asking this, but no one answered my original question. Is having SAT instead of PSAT scores (my school for some reason did not give us our PSAT scores before winter break) disadvantageous?

Thanks in advance for any help!
