RSI 2015

T.T i did not get in last year since i do not live in newfoundland. i don’t think that is a good rule.

good luck guys - rsi sounds like a fun program since it’s freeFREEfree

No one applied from Illinois, right?

anybody want to post stats?

“Please do not staple or fold the pages of the application. Applicants who do not conform to the requirements will not be considered.”

Just realized that’s exactly what I did (stapling)… do you guys think they’ll throw out my app? :frowning:

If you are competitive applicant. I don’t see how a staple could change their view of you. Good luck!

Has anyone else seen this document: http://web.mit.edu/rsi/www/2014/info/demographics.pdf ?

Do you think females have an advantage since there are less of them?

I heard there’s no female affirmative action at RSI

Since they essentially only take 1 person from each state, I think they are trying to take the best in the state irrespective of gender. Even if there is a an advantage to being female, it would be so incredibly slight that it would be negligible at best given the one per state quota (I know, a few of the most populous hyper-competitive states have a few more than one but you get my meaning). I don’t think any of us has any type of advantage except perhaps if you live in a very rural state without much competition AND you have managed to really distinguish yourself in math or science. Good luck everybody!

Does having a sibling who attended RSI 5 years ago help considerably?

I applied to RSI, too! Good luck everybody!

@swimmygirl123 I don’t think legacy helps.

I would be shocked if legacy helped here

Apparently only the sheer awesomeness of yourself helps. Bummer.

I think it helps ever so slightly. The how did you hear about RSI question lets them know if you’re a legacy. I have no real knowledge of this other than what I heard anecdotally about it being a tie-breaker.

I think legacy helps only in the sense that you are in a family situation that has been proven capable of facilitating an RSI-caliber student as well as potential access to advice and guidance that other applicants may not have, but I don’t think it matters much to the admissions team.

Correlation, not causation.

I wish it was six minutes…

oh my gosh i’m sooo scared…i really want to get in
good luck everyone!

@deadwilly do you know what the official date is that the results will be announced?
