Do you know specifically when decisions come out?

@Doctortobe9876 Supposedly around March 17th (that was near last year’s date according to others). I’m so nervous - crossing my fingers!

I got my new SAT score. Does anybody know if RSI accepts update?

I didn’t get in

Did any one get an email saying they were an alternate?

Rejected :frowning: My stats and other info are on a “chance me” thread I made a few days ago. Hopefully I get into Simons or another program though. Anyone know when Simons comes out?

@juliag18 Simons decisions come out by April 1. I’m sorry you didn’t get into RSI, but I looked at your chance me thread and I think that you have a good chance of getting into Simons.

@isFress I’m a little worried for Simons though, since I indicated a strong interest for environmental engineering even though most of my resume is CS, with a small amount of environmental stuff. (I chose CS and EE for the “back-up” placements though). I feel like my essays lacked cohesion as well (talked about both). Really need to work on coming up with one “theme” for future apps. Regrets

@juliag18 Why did you not put CS as your primary research field?

(W) GPA: 3.8 out of 4.1

PSAT: 1440 (750 Math, 690 R+W)

ECs: President of Mathletes, Head Programmer of Robotics (advanced to World Champ), Journalist of Newspaper, Lead Role in Drama, FBLA (4th in Business Calc, 1st in Business Communications)

Rank: < top 5%

Languages: Java, Arduino, C, C++, Python, R, RobotC and more

Software: Android Studio, Windows/ Mac OS, PTC Creo, Adobe Illustrator

African-American Male New Yorker in Public School

No prior research experience

My GPA is a 3.8**

@isFress Idk I guess I felt more passionate about environmental engineering at the time of drafting/writing. I also mentioned how I wanted to intertwine EE/CS with environmental engineering in my essays (machine learning for improved climate models, solar panel technology). imo, CS is just the means to an end - in my career I want to use CS to solve problems such as environmental issues + more.
Do you think I can still get in? I secured a mentor in the enviro eng field. I can pm you my essays if you’d like

@juliag18 I’m really not the most qualified person to judge whether you will get into Simons, but I think that having a mentor should help.

Does anyone know why results came out so early this year?

alternate

My friend is also an alternate.

Got accepted a few days ago, below are my stats (hope this helps)!
SAT: 1570 (math: 790, reading: 780)
PSAT: 1510 (math: 750, reading: 760)
SAT II: 800 on math II and Bio(E)
GPA: 4.00
Junior Year courses: 6 APs and Calc II (my school offered no APs to underclassmen)

2 years of research experience (ISEF finalist and won bronze at Genius Olympiad)

Other ECs were decent-- I am the president/VP of a few school clubs

Good teacher recs from teachers that had know me for a few years. Overall, I think I got accepted because my essays showed my genuine curiosity about science and due to my research experience (even though many others have more extensive awards).

Good luck to prospective applicants.

@jeffrandell Did you apply to MITES/MOSTEC?

@isFress Yes, I did. I also applied to CMU SAMS, Mathroots, and AIM.
