This may seem a little early, but it may be helpful to discuss what we’re doing to get ahead of the curve.
Lolol just a little early
Hello! I’ll start off lol
GPA: 3.95 (unweighted… A- in chinese) about 4.5-4.6 weighted
AP Scores: 4 AP bio, 4 AP chem, 5 AP calc BC and AB… these are the only relevant scores needed
AP Classes: AP HUGs, AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Calc AB and BC, AP Seminar, AP World History
AP Classes Junior year: AP US Gov, APUSH, AP physics, AP Stats, AP Lang
Extracurricular: Red Cross Youth Council, Red Cross, Key Club, Band Leadership, Percussion Ensemble, Club Swimming, High School Swimming, Portland Youth Philharmonics, STEM (a club where u teach elementary school kids about science)…
Leadership: President of Red Cross Club at school, Red Cross Youth Council Member, Section Leader in Percussion at school,
Awards: 2x State First Place in the Percussion Ensemble, Second Place in Timpani Solo at State
Scores: 800 Math 2, 800 SAT Bio, (results come out for SAT chem today lol)… 1410 on PSAT sophomore year
During this summer, I am interning/researching at a University in Korea. Currently, I am researching at the Organic chem and Immunololgy/Biology facility
I guess if I had to point out a weakness in my resume, it would be the lack of science-oriented extracurricular. I haven’t gotten any science awards because I am too invested into music.
I am really hoping to get into RSI because it’s the best summer research program in the US.
Hey! Your ECs are fine lol. We have the same PSAT :D. It’s so cool that you’re doing research in Korea! I wanna apply to RSI next year too. But honestly I don’t want the application process to take over my life. So I’m going to go in with low expectations. Hopefully I’ll be pleasantly surprised! @gkdudtlffj
Hi!! I really really want to get into RSI because it looks like so much fun.
Stats (copying @gkdudtlffj)

Scores: 1480 PSAT (10th grade), 35 ACT, 1550 SAT, 760 Physics SAT 2
AP Scores: 5 on Calc AB, Calc BC, Psychology, US Gov, Comp Gov, Human Geo, Environmental Science; 4 on Physics I; 3 on Physics 2, World History (rip)
AP Classes: see above
AP Classes Junior year: US History, Physics C Mech, Stats, Latin, Lang, Chem
Extracurriculars: Molecular biology research @ local uni (5 years ongoing) + science fairs/competitions, Science Bowl, Junior Classical League, Mu Alpha Theta, Chemistry Club, Beta Club, STEM Club, VEX Robotics, Interact Club
Leadership: State 1st VP (will not specify what club), Mu secretary, Chem Club historian
Awards: ISEF finalist, won a category award and special award (2017), other science fairs + compeititons
During this summer, I am researching at the same university as a student worker.
@taehyung I obviously am not an admissions person, but your stats seem great! Lol don’t worry about the 2 in AP World, they probably only care about STEM AP classes.
Also, is the fact that I will probably only have a paper of my research (at local university) by the application deadline going to look “bad”? Unfortunately, most competitions are after the application deadline.
@taehyung LOL WOW you actually did copy my format xP Are you korean by any chance…? (I am). Also which state do you live in?
Anyways, I got 800 on the SAT chem recently so I have 3 800s now. Hoping to get into a biochem or immunology field. But getting into RSI is like walking on water so don’t be disappointed if you guys don’t get in (3-5% acceptance rate which is lower than getting into Harvard.)
@SlaveTrade1234 uhh. I am not sure how RSI works but some summer programs allow you to add new test scores or new achievements after the deadline
Do you guys have any tips on for a rising 10th grader who wants to apply to RSI? I have only taken AP Human Geography, and I also plan to take AP Computer Science this year. My math skills are above average but no where near USAMO level. I have no research experience. A lot of this has to do with the fact that I live in a rural area.
It was a good format! Of course I took the liberty of copying it
I am not Korean. (If you’re referring to my username, I made it when I was into kpop, esp. BTS)
@gkdudtlffj whoops, forgot to mention you. ^
@SlaveTrade1234 a paper itself is fine. It shows that you contributed to the project and you have something tangible to show for the experience. Will your lab/partners, etc. be publishing? You could ask to be a coauthor if you have contributed enough.
I contributed a great deal to my project, so I will likely be the first author of my lab’s publication while my boss would be the corresponding author.
Get some research experience
Woowwowow! Your stats all look so amazing! ^^
I’m hoping to get into RSI too…but with low expectations, lols.
Here are my ugly stats: (copying everyone above XD)
GPA: 3.986 (unweighted)
AP Scores: 5 on Calc AB, Calc BC
4 on Stats, Human Geo.
3 on Comp Sci, Chem, World History
AP Classes Junior Year: Bio, Physics, French, Psychology, US History, English Lang
with Linear Algebra…
(RIP all of the above)
Extracurriculars: bioinformatics medical research, molecular biology research, biology field studies, FBLA, MUN, GSA, DECA, NHS, HOSA, MEU, French Club, Martial Arts Club, Soccer, Tennis, Gymnastics, Ice Skating, Jazz Band, Orchestra, piano, violin, robotics, Link Crew, USABO, USAPhO, USACO, USAChO
Leadership: President in MEU, FBLA, French Club, USABO, USAPhO, USACO, USAChO (founder of all, took a full team to nationals consecutive years), VP in Dance
Awards: took 7 state titles in tech areas, 5 state titles in music, did concerts with several world reowned trumpetist/saxists…(is that what you call them?), 2 awards in language competitions and 6 awards in MUN, 2 publications in biology
(RIP awards as well)
Volunteer: started various medical related fundraisers; volunteered roughly 337 hrs
And…fluent in 5 languages…
…
I know my stats really do suck TT (RIP my sophomore self - sucked at everything)…but any chance for meh? ~:>
Thanks, n love to ya’all amazing people on CC :x
Omo, my post way long lols >:) :))
@RomanNoodles How did you do all of those olympiads? Your ecs are pretty good. Those olympiads will definately help you.
He/She is lying. Anyone who has taken the chemistry olympiad local/national exam know that the abbreviation used is USNCO not USACHO. Just saying USACO shows that they don’t understand how to competition works as the different divisions of usaco have a huge separation in impressiveness (usaco plat is much harder than usaco silver). Its possible but unlikely that someone would be able to do well on usnco, usabo, usapho without doing well in the ap classes (especially the 3 in ap chem and the lack of a physics class).
No chance
Ok…
