RSI - list your three biggest awards

Here, I want to see how well other applicants are doing. Please list your three greatest math/science awards that you put on your RSI application.

For me,

State science fair - honorable mention

City science fair - 2nd

Dsitrict science fair - 1st

Whats the big deal with RSI?
And what exactly do u do there?
Im just wondering cause theres so many threads/posts about it...

RSI is probably THE most prestigious high school program in the sciences (with TASP being the most prestigious in the humanities) and it has like a 3% acceptance rate.

Siemens Westinghouse Regional Finalist

2 Internships at Universities (not concurrently)-not really awards but eh

Some minor placings like 3rd and some special awards at the Regional science fair (central area of my state)

If you get into RSI, it's 99.9% sure that your dream college will accept you.
RSI admission rate is 4% -->compare to Harvard's 10% -->this implies RSI is harder to get in than Harvard

Plus, the RSI pool is self-selective, so its probably even harsher than the numbers tell you.

http://www-tech.mit.edu/V119/N29/29rsi.29n.html

"Neils Dreyer, an RSI student from Germany, is studying cryptosporidium parvum, a type of parasite, in geese. When asked about his work, he responded: “I collect ****”."

lmao

ya you gotta do the dirty work in biology. but hey that's real research. don't laugh at it. post-docs with PhD do it every day.

hahahahaha thats funny.

or u can get grad students to do it...

Wow are you serious, that hard to get in.
What are the requirements in terms of age and stuff

I think you have to be 16+ maybe.. but I know you have to be a Junior in HS.

You don't need to be 16. There was at least one 15 year old last year there.

woops. You need to have completed 3 years of high school, or the equivalent.

pleaese don't post anything irrelevant to the title;
