Can anyone who has been accepted to RSI in the past say if previous research experience is a “prerequisite” for admission? I know that on the website, they say that it is not required and they don’t expect it, but what percentage of admitted students have previous research experience? What percentage have competed in/won awards in research competitions?
I have not been accepted, but I can say, quite confidently, that research experience is highly valued. This claim arises more from other applicant’s exposure and involvement, not the camp’s requirement or “prerequisite”. In other words, you might want to get involved in research primarily because competing students are, not because the camp needs it. Hope this helps!
