Rsi...?

Those of you who've already been accepted...CONGRATS!! I have a question for you. How many of you participated in the RSI program last summer? If you did, how competitive is the selection for the program, that is, are there certain criteria that you had to meet in order to be accepted?

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=101097%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=101097</a></p>

I see you've already found the thread, though. G'luck!

I applied. And didn't get in.

But that was coming from NH with zero research experience and no Olympiads. I got into WTP instead and it was way better, minus the fact that all of us were girls and RSI boys are no good to party with. :) Just kidding.

Hey, I distinctly recall a WTP (or was it MITES?) girl being specially invited to RSI's International Night to dance. How much better could the partying get? :-P

i was accepted to MITES and RSI...and i had no research experience and no Olympiads. I decided to go to Stanford instead...i thinki made the right decision. Oh, I also got into mit ea, so that didnt count against me.

It's VERY competitive. Traditionally, only 1 or 2 people get in from each state. Interestingly, though, they sometimes overlook big competition winners to accept people who appear more motivated.

RSI is more competitive than MIT itself. I applied and got rejected, went to SSP instead, and had the time of my life. On the other hand, a friend of mine got into RSI and apparently didn't have so great a time. So it's a tossup imho

well thanks for pretty much saying i suck. lol

accepted to MIT EA. I'm a WTP, RSI, and MITES reject.

A lot of people that go to MIT aren't RSI. The metriculation seems to be even from RSI to college seems to be even with Harvard and MIT at the top. The others go to great places for other reasons. That being said, only about maybe 40 people (high estimate) in the c/o 2010 will be RSI. A lot of people that get rejected from any of the three summer programs at MIT get into MIT. Likewise, some people that go to the summer programs don't get into MIT (although it's a very low percentage), like me so far (MITES '05, defer MIT).
