I am applying to all my schools as an economics major, but I have often heard that economics is not taken seriously at Rutgers. Would it be more advantageous to apply to the Business school and major in marketing/finance?

If anyone knows anything about either department, please let me know!

its not that rutgers doesnt take economics seriously, they do take it seriously. however, economics is not offered as a major in the business school, you are part of SAS. i faced the same dilemna, i applied to all my colleges as an econ major and i ended up going to rutgers as a finance major in the business school, with plans to declare a double finance/econ major. if you are interested in being in the business school at rutgers but want to do econ, I would recommend becoming a finance/marketing major (thus enrolling at the business school), and declaring a double major with econ in your 2nd year. most of your classes the first year are introductory and are mostly there to fill prerequisites and stuff

Another option is to major in Finance or marketing and minor in Economics. The minor is only 4 Electives after you take Intro to Micro and Macro which you need for the Business major anyway.
