Rudy Giuliani Support Thread

Who's going to vote for Rudy in 2008 besides me?

Let's make "America's mayor" America's next president.

hell yeah im in. Giuliani has my vote. This might sound stupid, but has he announced yet?

Giuliani is exploring a presidential bid. If he gets the Republican nod, which won't be easy given his stance on abortion and guns, I'll vote for him in a heartbeat.

Here is his presidential website:

Let's keep a list of the Giuliani-supporters:

since when are people getting the idea that nyc hated Giuliani? From what I've seen every single New Yorker I talked to, had nothing but love for the man. And rightly so.

I completely agree. I see that belief a lot from non-NYC residents who don't know what they're talking about. I remember complaining that there is a term limit on the NYC mayor office. They should have abolished it just for Rudy.

exactly. I don't live there anymore(used to till now), but Giuliani is the one politician i can "actually like," and i hate politicians so much too :) I really hope he runs.

new yorker here.
I like him. I'm usually a more liberal person, but he did a lot for NYC when he was mayor. I think he could make a rather good president. And there is a small possibility he gets the "Republican's nod" b/c though many would not agree with his more liberal views, the current popular anti-Republican mindset of the people may be more forgiving to a liberal candidate than a conservative one.

People forget that Rudy was able to become mayor in NYC as a Republican, no easy feat considering NYC is 80% Democratic. If he could win over a super-liberal city, he might be able to win over the super-conservative south. What you said about the anti-Republican mindset is also true. The Republicans might want to take a different approach and Giuliani would certainly be "out of the norm" for a GOP candidate.

I would support Rudy. I have been a life-long Republican (barring a few cross overs) and actually Rudy fits more of my personal beliefs than many in the Republican party have for a long time.

Have to add--I'm in the South also!

Here is an atricle that talks about a poll which shows that Giuliani and Clinton are the front-runners in their respective parties primaries. So I'm hoping this poll turns out to be right. If it is Giluiani vs. Hillary, I think Giuliani would win. As far as the South is concerned it could come down to which of the 2 they hate less.

dang. That's good news. Unfortunately it might not mean much. Although, if republicans think about it Giuliani will give republicans a chance in a state they've never really had a chance on..... New York. A big plus to republicans for supporting Giuliani if u ask me. Although i don't really care too much about political parties, the republicans should think about that.

Yes! We have a pro-Giuliani southerner. I'm sure there are more like you out there.

o hepstar id technically be a southern giuliani supporter since i just moved to virginia:)

"Although, if republicans think about it Giuliani will give republicans a chance in a state they've never really had a chance on..... New York."

Yep. If it was him and Hillary, he'd certainly win NY, even though she is one of New York's senators. there are a lot of New Yorkers who don't like her (including yours truly). Giuliani was actually beating her in the Senate race when she first ran, but he had to bow out due to heath issues. I think that Giuliani would still win Texas since Hillary is very anti-Bush and I'm not sure how that will fly in Bush country in the Lone Star state.

"o hepstar id technically be a southern giuliani supporter since i just moved to virginia"

Sort of. You did live in NYC when he was mayor, so you had the privelge of experiencing his leadership first-hand. Not too many southerners can say this.

here's my theory on the hilary giuliani senate thing. I think they secretly made a deal. Hilary knew she'd lose to giuliani, and struck a deal. Who knows lol, maybe giuliani and hilary running was all part of the deal! A farfetched theory, i know, but hey its politics u never know.

In a way it all worked out since we still had "the man" around for 9/11.

Well, I'm in Edwards' home state--he didn't help to carry it and I'm fairly sure Hiliary wouldn't--but I think Rudy would.

I agree with Hepstar
Many people would be surprised that there are a LOT of NYers that completely and utterly despise Hillary Clinton. I mean, she has many supporters, but don't think that NY would be an easy win for her. If Guliani is her opponent, he may give her a major run for her money.

Republicans might like the idea of stealing a traditionally democratic state. Having led NY through 9/11, most of NY loves Guliani. Not many mayors can successfully lead a city that big through a crisis that destructive.
