RUE 2019

I’m a veteran and I have not received an interview. However, my veteran friend at Brown mentioned that they should still be sending them out.

Hey AndyG130, all vets should be offered an interview according to the RUE policy.

Any updates from anyone? The post has been quiet the last few days…

@Forwardbound2020 No updates here, just constantly checking my email still, haha

No updates from me either!

nothing here and same @bluepeony lol

I just received an email from a Brown Alumni asking me to interview tomorrow. My veteran friend at Brown says that it is the main interview. With so many people requiring interviews, the school delegated the majority of interviews to alumni.

Also, it seems like Brown followed a pattern in 2016, 2017, and 2018; decisions were released in the beginning of the second week of May, early in the morning. So, if I can make a guess, decisions will probably be out around May 6ish, early in the morning.

Hey everyone, I’m a little late to the party on this thread apparently. I’m a veteran and had my interview over Skype three weekends ago with the alumni. I applied in mid-February so that may be why I had one of the earlier interviews.

I am currently trying to contact the administration at Brown to see if I can receive my decision before I need to put down a deposit at another school at the end of this week. I’ll post an update later to let everyone know if they are able to help out with situations like mine.

Best of luck to everyone

Alright so, I didn’t get in. But you can get your decision over the phone from Mr. Newcomb if you email Brown and provide a copy of your other acceptance with the deadline for the deposit stated in the acceptance letter. He said they admitted just under 10% of applicants for the RUE this year.

Again, best of luck to everyone else who applied.

@kermitthebandit I am sorry you didn’t get in, thank you for letting us know - I wish they would just tell us already
Where are you planning to go? Best of luck wherever you choose to attend!

@kermitthebandit Sorry to hear it! I hope you love your other school though. Thank you so much for the info. Hopefully they let the rest of us know soon!

I have been able to manage not to think about Brown 24/7 but today my Quantum Meachanics professor asked me if I had been accepted yet… Now, I’m going to think about this 27/4. Hopefully the decisions are out within the next week.

@RainbowBritey No worries. I’ll be going to Baylor now. I’m a first year student so I might try to transfer through the RUE again later if it feel right.

Hello, everyone! I’ve been following this thread for quite some time, and I’ve been a bystander until now cause I was just too busy with life haha.

Anyway, like you guys, I applied as a RUE applicant this year. I’m a nontraditional student (25 yo), and I’m not a veteran. I got interviewed a couple weeks ago by someone named Brandon Hoshiko, and it went well. It really was just a conversation, which lasted close to an hour. Immediately after my interview, I got an email from financial aid asking me to fill out a missing form, which I did and submitted it that day.

This morning I requested an early read because I was accepted to William and Mary and the deposit is due in two weeks. After sending in a screenshot of my acceptance letter, I spoke with someone named Peter Newcomb on the phone–and he regretfully informed me that I didn’t get accepted. I’m fine with it, though. He also told me that less than 10% got accepted into the program.

Anyway, good luck to you guys! Hope y’all get good news soon!

Thank you and congratulations to you both @hoothoot5 and @kermitthebandit !!! Good luck at each of your amazing schools!

Brown transfers came out today! I still haven’t seen anything from them portal or email-wise for my RUE application. Has anyone had any updates at all?

Nope, unfortunately no changes to portal or other forms of communication at all. My regular transfer friend got her decision this morning so I was quite excited to hear but … nothing!
I have had pretty much no contact from Brown at all through this process, and while I presume that indicates that I won’t get accepted, it does also plant a small seed of concern about what studying at Brown might be like. I really value the engaged and human face that some of the colleges (Williams, Swarthmore, Berkeley, UCLA and Yale EWS) have shown along the way.

Nothing here, I’ve gotten the most engagement with Dartmouth and nearly nothing with anyone else… interesting note is that I looked back over the past few years comparing RUE and Transfer decision dates, and it appears that RUE happens first for the past three years… except this one lol

Brown Decision Release Dates
2018 Transfer: 05/09
2018 RUE: 05/07
2017 Transfer: 05/11
2017 RUE: 05/08 (mail)
2016 Transfer: 05/13 (mail)
2016 RUE: 05/10 (mail)

Hmmmm… interesting mini-study there @sproutedchiapet thank you! I wonder why the order flipped this year.

I called Peter today and he said by Thursday or Friday we should receive decisions.
