<p>Does anyone know what we're allowed to (or not allowed to) put up on our walls in our dorm rooms? Like are we not allowed to use tape or thumb tacks or...?</p>

<p>i used thumb tacks for stuff. they tell you not to but...eh. just make sure on your room evaluation you fill out at the beginning of the year say you have holes in your wall already. not the most honest thing to do, but hey, you're paying a crap load of money to live there. small hole won't hurt anyone.</p>
<p>and you can use toothpaste to cover/fill the holes. just stay away from nails and paint and you should be fine.</p>
<p>just for the record though, no you can't use stuff that makes holes. but like i said, just bs your eval in the beginning. i just put everything looked like crap so i wouldn't get charged at the end of the year.</p>
<p>Be careful with tape. My roommate put up some posters with special poster adhesive and it peeled off a bunch of paint on the walls. Now we're getting charged for it.</p>
<p>i got charged for the tape we put outside the door to put up a white board. we put tacks everywhere inside our room and spackled them up at the end and it was fine.</p>

<p>Hmm... nobody cared it we used thumbtacks. I used them a lot... and I haven't been charged for anything.</p>
<p>But I agree... amp up your room condition form. It's a form you have to fill out at the beginning of the year listing any damages you find already in your room (marks on the walls, stains on the carpet, broken furniture, etc.)... find anything and everything that looks like it could possibly be charged, and don't be afraid to exaggerate a little. Each roommate fills out their own form, for their own half of the room. Except my roommate forgot, and I'm not sure if she was charged for anything or not.</p>
<p>Just to add on to collegebound123's message, I'd recommend also saving your answers on your computer somewhere. I think you have to fill out another form at the end of the year and I remember it would have been a lot easier if I had remembered/written down what I had put earlier</p>
<p>^yeah i saved mine. they send you an email w/ your answers after the first one. so i saved that as well and copied and pasted at the end of the year.</p>

<p>yes they do. i actually used them and they came off fine. i was surprised w/ how well they worked.</p>
<p>I agree with current_student and recommend all the 3M Command poster mounts/sticky hooks/what have you.</p>
