hey. I have no idea if this rumor's founded, but I heard that colleges only say you'll find out at 3pm so you don't skip school to stay home and stare at your computer all day. The rumor goes on to say that they in fact post it by 7:30am or so... Any idea if this is true?

ooo I hope so!

I bet it's true that they post it at 3 pm for that, but as for the 7:30 am, I'm not sure.

Check during your lunch or break though, just in case!!

As it stands (unless there's a snowday) I'll be home at 11, and I'll refresh every 5 minutes until it posts.

That's a stupid rumor. It takes all of 1 second to read the important part of the letter (accept/reject.) You would hardly have to cut school to spend the whole day reading it. If they released it in the morning, people would just read it, then go to school.

I don't think its the one second they're worried about. its the people who will stare at the screen after reading it many times, wondering if the decision's real, either way. not that many people would just march back up to school, at least not the people i know...
-- and, lucky me, my school internet won't let us anywhere non-educational, including the decision site for some odd reason. yeah. great.

Even if they DID post it at 7:30AM, surely you could get access to your e-mail at school if you REALLY wanted to. I happen to have seminar that afternoon in my second home (the J room), which happens to have about fifteen Macs and just as many laptops. Nothin' gonna stop me from looking. Unless someone brings chocolate. Hmm...chocolate.

Last year my early action notification arrived at about 5:20 PM or so...and in April nothing was posted until the afternoon. The rumor has no merit to it.

Xanatos-

Did they tell you it'd be up at 3?

How long do you guys think it will take the letters to get to NYC from Hanover?????????????????????

they send it out tomorrow..I'd say should be here sat or monday. you're not going to read it online??

Well last year Dartmouth sent out emails instead of having a site, so that won't help. My EA school, however, specifically said that they would send the notification after 5 P.M.

One of the problems with posting to a site instead of sending them e-mail is that the site becomes flooded and no one can get their response. For Tufts RD admission they said that they would have their results posted at 5 p.m Guess what??/ everybody logged in at the same time and no one could get results for hours.

During the RD I know that Dartmouth the decisions via e-mail. They were not in at 7:30 a.m because she checked before she went to school

For ED there won't be nearly as many kids as for RD...luckily.
