Rumor - easier to get in with a certain major, true or false?

I heard it's easier to get in to main campus if you apply under Hotel/Rest. Management. So, I did. (Apparently someone got in with a 2.6 gpa - to main!) I'm just wondering if you guys know anything about this, or if you could possibly tell me my chances?

GPA : 3.2 (this year its a 3.9, idk what it is overall..)
SAT : m 620 w 640 r 590 soo thats 1160/1600 and 1820/2400 i believe
EC : guitar lessons for a couple years, field hockey since 5th grade, co-founder and treasurer of meditation & relaxtion club (dont hate), student council rep, volunteer/community service as a special olympics coach, two jobs (i work everyday, like 30 hrs/week. ive worked at a restaurant for 2+ years so maybe that will look good for my major ? the other job is at hollister clothing company.)

i know my gpa sucks, im asking for honesty. i would love to get into main, i put that as my first choice on my app.. and i put that im willing to do summer session. i really would do it.

my letter was mailed so i'll know soon enough!

From what I've been told it is easier to get into PSU by selecting different majors. For example undecided is easier than business.

Let us know what happens. Your definately on the low end for main, but good luck.

When did you send in your application? For curiosity's sake.

Do you really want to major in that? What do you want to transfer to once you get there?

okay haha let me start from the top:

lilkiller - thank you :) i really hope i get in.

belatedmidnight - i applied early august, but my school doesnt send transcripts out until midish late september at the very earliest. so, id say they had all my stuff in by early oct.

rlm - i honestly dont know what i want to major in! i think im just gonna transfer to undecieded.

It makes a lot more sense to apply in what you are interested in, rather than what you think you will get admitted for, but if you really don't know, then DUS is for you.
They have a lot more advising and programs to help you decide. And while you can probably transfer to any major from another, doing it from DUS should be a lot easier.

well, thats good advice but its too late now :( my decision is already in the mail and i should get it tomorrow.

lets hope i get innnn :|

Let us know what the decision is courtney! I have similar stats and i'm getting so nervous
