I don't know if this is the best way to find a partner, but... here goes. I want to run a half marathon, but I don't think I'll be disciplined enough on my own to train for it. I was wondering if anyone else would be willing to train with me. All of my friends hate running. I thought about checking out the running club here on campus, but I think everyone in there is way too fast for me. I'm a VERY slow, beginner runner and I prefer to run in the early mornings rather than afternoons. Just PM me if you're interested!

When i read the title, I was interested in finding running buddies…but i thought to myself, they’d have to be slow runners. I’m hoping to find a few people that are down to run at a 8-12 minute mile pace…more like 10-12, i could try challenging myself, but i can for sure slow down =P…I think night runs are more ideal for me if anyone is interested, however it doesnt matter much to me.

Also does anyone know if there are any hiking trails near campus?

^^^ Not so much for hiking trails, a few, but mostly flat fire access roads…

Here is a list of routes used by the “Bruin Runners”, probably what your after… it looks like there’s something for everyone.

Plus, do you honestly need someone to give you a route? Just take off from the dorm, run along the outskirts of the UCLA campus, or run along Sunset and back, or w/e… running is running.

Ugh, I run 10-12 minute miles
I am a slowpoke.
How long were you thinking of running for? And what times in the mornings?

MrPink: I’m a little faster than you, but I have low stamina. I saw the Bruin Runner website and was shocked at the length of some of those runs they do.

Im interested in something like this too… I did four years of high school running, got four letters by the time I finished. 4:44 miler, 10:15 two miler, so I wasn’t nearly fast enough for UCLA XC or Track, which is sort of disappointing.

Still, Im interested in running, but Im sort of wary of the running places around here. Back in North San Diego its usually canyons or beach, but LA, ostensibly, seems like its going to be a ridiculous maze of smog, streets and ****. So we’ll see how it goes i guess.

running would be fun… lol imagine this becomes a big pack of runners from CC…
well for me, it depends on how everything works out and all with me being a freshman

statue: mind if I ask where in North SD you are from? I’m very familiar with the area, and seeing someone from there always strikes a special chord :)

ill be your running buddy!.. ive been running for a while, but im not very fast either. i was actually hoping to find someone to run with for motivation.

I guess I should’ve been more specific when I posted this, so here goes!

my pace: 10:30mi
time: prob around 7am
how far: uh, I don’t know this one for sure. I’m kinda going off my training schedule right now.
other info: I’m a girl… going to be a third year.

Still any takers?

^ I’m way too much of a night owl to wake up at 7:00, but if you ever decide to go for early evening runs, jch1989, let me know! I’m also a girl going into my third year, and I run at about the same pace as you (probably slower towards the end of the run, though, I’m ridiculously out of shape). I see myself going maybe three nights a week and leaving around 5:00ish or whatever time would get me home right before dark.
