is 9 months enough time to fully prepare myself for the SAT? I am in 10th grade and have barely prepped myself, but i would love to take it the fall of junior year. What are your thoughts on this? How long does it usually take people (who tend to score high marks on SAT) to prepare themselves? What is the most effective way of preparing myself?

Do a practice test now (I recommend the official SAT study guide from the CollegeBoard, aka the “Blue Book”).

See how you do, what your weaknesses are, and then devise a study strategy from there. If you don’t see where you need to improve now, there’s no way you’d know what to focus on when you study.

More than enough time. Having said that, each person is different. My Ds took it once in soph, junior and senior year with a little practice each time. Both ended up with super score CR+M of1530-1540. Important that you’ve had algebra and geometry since that is math covered. Ds spent most time on math practice but did a little CR just to get feel of way SAT words questions. However, some people need more work. If you take it fall of junior year you’re in good shape if you want to take it again in spring and even in fall of senior.

Yeah, I think 9 months is definitely enough time if you use it well. Personally, I only studied for 2 weeks, but that was a pretty bad idea, and I scored lower than I could have. Definitely take a practice test now to see how you stand in terms of your target score.
