Running out of time.

Sorry if my topic is in the wrong section, but I need some quick advice.

I have two days until the AP english essay deadline and I have a couple of questions.
My school's cirriculum is brand-new and it sucks... there's about two APs (english and history) in the entire school and I didnt take any APs this year (i'm a junior) because if I take AP english, then I can't take Precal. I was wondering if i should bother applying for the AP english class in senior year. I have to read and write an essay in two days so I need advice quick!
Do the colleges really care if u take APs in your senior year? Should I bother takin the class? thanks in advance guys.

Yes. Definitely apply for the class. If your school offers the class (even if it's new), it's a good idea for you to take it.

but its in my senior year, would it make a really big difference? and it's just one AP class, not like 5 or 6. does it really change anything? and this AP eng class might also drop my GPA.

Generally speaking, you should take the most challenging courseload available to you.

Depends on the field in which you might concentrate; precalculus would be required for the sciences, while AP English may be more useful if you want to be in the humanities.

what if my major won't be related to english? i plan to major in business, so that's why i dont know if i should take the ap english class.

AP English is considered a bread and butter AP course--if you can take it, you probably should. Additionally, I know from my MBA mother that the business world (probably the professional world in general, but anyway) is in bad need of good, competant writers. Think about it--you don't need to be the next Joyce or Hemingway, but you'll surely have proposals/evaluations/reports to write as a business person. Unless it will take the place of a really important course (AP Calc, basically), or you think you will get a C, you should take the course--very/highly selective colleges will pretty much expect it.

thanks for the quick responses. advantagious~ what if I dont take the class, but take the test and tell them that I self studied for it? would that be the same or would it be better if I take the class?

Uhhh...yeah, that would probably be okay, but I would still push you to actually take the course. That's a good question to ask an admission officer, though...I would wonder why you weren't taking the course if your school offered it unless there was a scheduling conflict.

since my school is new [opened 4-5 years ago] it doesnt offer a lot of APs. and I was supposed to take AP eng this year, but if i take AP eng, i can't take precal. and i'm afraid that if i take AP eng, i won't be able to take calc next year.
