So, for my meal plan It's half block and half flex. I guess I didn't know any better b/c I was 'overspending' (campus food is so overpriced :/) and didn't budget my flex dollars accordingly ...and the dorm food tastes like crap (I know it's still food) and I have less than 5 block meals left :/ And it's only mid-semester lol. Has anyone ever run out of their meal plan before? Do you have any tips to economize better? Because I'm sick of eating ramen lmao...

Going by the SDSU in your location:
[Budgeting Chart](The Garden - Reservation)

They give you a budgeting chart. Although looks like that doesn’t count the Flex plan.

Try keeping a spread sheet and figure out how much you can spend per day? I don’t have much other advice to offer since I have 5-day plan at UCSC. I get unlimited entries into the dining hall five days a week. You definitely need to keep better track of what you’re spending, though. That alone may help you.

Can you add meals or flex dollars? We use something called Flexis here at UCSC (but we don’t have the kind of restaurant listing you have at SDSU) and we can add more throughout the year. Those on numbered meal plans (rather than day) can also add meals. That may be your best option if so. I can’t get far enough into the system to see if you can at SDSU, though, and it doesn’t seem to be in the FAQ. There is an email to contact if you have questions (including how to budget your meal plan):

Good luck!

Opposite problem for me. I still have over 100 meals to use up and we only have 8 weeks left. I took the smallest plan that they had. 2 meals a day for 5 days. I leave on weekends, and I generally go to the area restaurants during the week, or I live off soup here. 3 days a week I go to our food court and get food that is hard to screw up.

At my university you could purchase more meals, and have your parents put money on your id that can be used to purchase meals. I agree everything is over priced on campus, but I don’t eat a lot to begin with. The food sucks here too.

We have a program where you can get anything valued at 3.75 as a meal so I guess if I still have a lot I’ll will just be “trading” grocery type items for meals. lol

Sorry I don’t have a lot to add, but I would check with school about purchasing more meals. Commuters here can purchase meals at any point. I think 50 meals was like $400 here. Its crazy.

if you have a fridge keep milk, yogurt, fruits, etc handy for breakfast that’s the easiest way i keep from “overdoing” meal plans during the week.

Same here. I have 10 meals left and $100 points. And I have 6 weeks of school left. Wrong meal plan! Next semester I wil go back to block meals. Flex ones don’t work for me. I like to budget weekly instead. For now, I have cereal in my room for breakfast. I rarely eat lunch( my classes run through that time). And I will use points for dinner or heat up roman or something. Not too bad I guess, I just keep telling myself 6more weeks.
