Running the Mile

My friend who is in my grade from a neighbor school ran a 1:50 800m this year as a sophomore and had the national record in the 1000m for a time. Last year he was my competition, but he just blew me away this year (we used to run 4:30s together in all those dumb freshman miles).

and since i know someone will call shenanigans, his name is zavon watkins, google him up.

i raced him at the armory this year and he ran 2:28 1000m and came back in a 1:51… I had a 2:36 and came back in a 2:09 lol

I don’t know about where you come from, but there’s no such event as the 1000m. There’s the 800 and the 1600, but I’ve never heard of the 1000m. And I call BS on the 2:28.

5:09 mi

But I’m an XC Track person.

No, some areas do run the 1000m. It’s just not very common.

Seriously? dudee the 100m would be HELL.

Uhmm, I walk my mile because I have this issue with sweating in the middle of the day at school.
And I can walk it in like 11 minutes lol.

@Cody2010: Google says it’s true: [zavon watkins - Google Search](<a href=“zavon watkins - Google Search”>zavon watkins - Google Search)

^Ahh wow thanks.

My apologies Longuylind.

I put 6:30 but i never run that fast b/c I usually run like 3 or 4 miles… but im sure i could get somewhere in-between 6:30 and 7:00

it’s alright, it isn’t very common for a sophomore to run a 1:51 800m/2:27 1000m (he is actually the firs to ever do so - soph national record holder), so i could see how you think it’s unbelievable.

I workout with him once or twice a month and it’s rough. I miss freshman year when we used to make pacts before the races that we would stay together til the last 300m :frowning: ahh i loved freshman races
