Running to Get Ready

Yeah that could be it once your lungs get stronger it could help a lot.

and to get DQ'd, you have to be "reliably diagnosed" with asthma. I had asthma as a kid, but since I was never properly tested and diagnosed, it wasn't officially confirmed, I was just treated for it. I hadn't had treatment/inhalers for quite a while. I looked in my medical records before applying, and the only official record was "asthma?" scratched on a paper, then all my treatments. You can get your doctor to give you a copy of your record and you can look into it. If you were never officially diagnosed, and you can handly yourself just fine without the inhaler (which running and getting in shape will help you do), get off the the inhaler and any other treatments you might have with the permission of your doctor, and it won't pose a problem. Unfortunately if you do have asthma, I don't think you can get that waived, though it might be possible to get the use of an inhaler waived, not sure. good luck!

I take an asthma medication for allergies. Every time a doctor sees that, they are like "Oh, how is your asthma?" Then, I get to explain that I do not have asthma...and I make it perfectly clear. I did not want to risk a misunderstanding messing up DoDMERB.

Thanks a lot everyone, this helped a lot.

Just give yourself plenty of time for the DoDMERB. My friend had asthma and ended up passing the DoDMERB after they did a special review of his case, but all of the appointments had already been given out.

Edited, redundant post, everyone already answered question.

Just have a Pulmonary Function Test performed. It's real quick and most insurance covers it. I had to take one for DoDMERB because of sinusitis. Since I had been running and working out, my functions were well over 100% expected for my height/weight/age. They cleared all lung related questions from my medical.
