<p>one of my friends i mentioned didnt run until his junior year. he ended his junior year at 2:00 in the 800 and 51 in the 400. his senior year he dropped those to 1:57 and 50, and he was recruited by a d2 and a couple d3 but he couldnt get any money from the d2 school he is going to even though he was one of their better recruits. he said that they just dont have many track scholarships because its a small school and football gets most of the scholarships</p>

<p>and even in DI and DII track & field and XC teams have a limited number of schalrships and a lot more athletes … the scholarships tend to split among multiple athletes … to get anything near a full-ride track scholarship as a distance runner requires being near national class.</p>
