Hi guys!
I'm trying to compile a list of colleges that would be right for me. I have a 3.89 GPA UW and the practice SATs I've taken have been in the 2200+ range.
The problem I'm running into is that I enjoy the idea of a liberal arts college a lot, but I much prefer the size and location of schools such as Georgetown. My favorite LAS is Middlebury without a doubt, but it's extremely small and remote. So for those of you attending rural schools, how are they? Do you find enough to do on campus?
Also, any other school suggestions you might have. Thanks!

So why not look at urban and suburban LACs? Macalester, Vassar, Haverford, Swarthmore, Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Reed, Rhodes…it’s a pretty good sized list. LAC-like but still urban? Look at Rice and Brown and Weslayen.

Just remember, part of what makes Middlebury (and other rural LACs) the tight community it is, is the fact that it’s in a small college town and relatively isolated from an urban area.

We visited a lot of LACs in small towns and I think the “campus bubble” is a universal constant. It was something that was always asked and almost always the answer was something to the effect that there are so many things going on or to be involved with on campus that they never leave. This was true even of schools in the middle of large cities. Now some schools do a much better of job of organizing off-campus activities than others regardless of location. That may be a different way of looking at it.
