Rural vs. Urban school?

My problem is that I'm having a hard time knowing what I want, a rural or an urban college. I live in the suburbs and life isn't very dynamic, I would prefer a cultural or a natural atmosphere. On one hand, I gravitate towards urban schools because of the wealth of entertainment possibilities and the convenience. However, I do not like how fast-paced life is, and would prefer a more relaxed atmosphere. I would love to go to a college with lots of nature trails, a nearby water source, and/or winter sports. However, many of such colleges tend to be smaller in size with less opportunities. I'm also would prefer to keep the driving to a minimum.

Did you go to a rural, suburban or city campus? What do you like? What do you regret?

I go to a school in the suburbs. It’s nice though because I’m only about 10 minutes from downtown of the city. The campus itself is very pretty, has some nice trails behind the athletic fields, and is removed enough from the hustle and bustle and noise. It’s easy to go places though, so if you want to go enjoy stuff within the city, you can. I love it.

Find a school that isn’t in the city, but you’re really close to one. I think Goucher is a good example of that. There’s a lot of opportunities, and they have buses that take students into Baltimore

I grew up in a very urban area and I go to school now in a minor city. I honestly cannot imagine going to school in a place more “rural” than this. I’ve been to every restaurant around here and I’m tired of hanging out at the mall like a 15 year old. If you need cultural entertainment to keep you sane, do not go to school in a rural area. You will be hanging out at Wal-Mart on weekend nights and tipping cows.
