RUSH - 15 Realistic Tests for the SAT Math Level 2 -- Does it work?

I will be taking the Math IIC on June and while looking through my school library I found the "RUSH - 15 Realistic Tests for the SAT Math Level 2". When I looked it up in the internet to see if it was any good I was surprised with all the good reviews it got. Supposedly, its test problems are nearly the same as the ones in the actual SAT IIC. Some people only did as little as two or three tests and scored near or perfect 800s on the real thing!

Please tell me; is this book too good to be true? What are your opinions on it and what testimonies can I find about this book to help me be sure about its validity (like scores that people got before and after studying the book?). Thank you!

Just in case you'd like to know, I have the 2005 extended and revised third edition with the solutions.

Hardest tests ever. I got like 500-600 on them, and I got, with ease, an 800 on Math 2 and Math 1.

"Supposedly, its test problems are nearly the same as the ones in the actual SAT IIC."

Actually, its test problems are nearly the same as the most difficult ones in the actual SAT IIC.

Way beyond in difficulty and scope.

Are you talking about the Rusen Meylani book? Definitely harder overall than the real thing, but it will prepare you. He used to post here about 2 or 3 years ago. He also had a book about using the TI-89 on the Math II test.

Yeah. It's by Rusen Meylani. Does he still have an account on CC? I would like to trace his posts to help get a sense of where I'm going with his book.

Thanks!

That's really encouraging. This book seems too good to be true to prepare you just by taking the practice tests. Did the book teach you any formal math? Or did you look up the solution to see how to get the answer after you're done? I mean, I guess what's worrying me is the fact that you ONLY need to do the practice tests...unless I'm wrong?

I think his user name was just meylani. My son took a couple of his tests to prepare for the May exam - scored somewhere in the 600 range. We'll see how it compares to his actual score. If you do a search here for "Rusen Meylani", you'll see more discussion (from 3 years ago, when it was in print). IIRC, Rusen Meylani had a website that had some corrections on it, but it appears to have finally lapsed.

Thanks for replying but my main question is how does taking Meylan's practice tests automatically prep anyone out? Do you study his questions...is there some process in this?

fireflyscout: I saw his account but could not trace any of his posts. CC wouldn't let me.
