umm...i was bored one day, and i e-mailed cornell about that..

this is what i said:

Hello,

I have a few questions regarding Early Decision and Cornell University. In the fall of '09, I plan on applying ED to this university, however, in October and November, I will have to take my SAT I and SAT II's. The difficulty I have here is that is it okay if I take the SAT II's in October and SAT I Reasoning Test in November, and still be able to send in my scores for my ED application, which will be sent in November 1st? Or will it be too late? Is it the same if I take the SAT I Reasoning Test in October and SAT II's in November?

Thank you for your help,
Tiffany

they responded:

Dear Tiffany,

Thank you for your interest in Cornell. You should plan to take the SAT Reasoning Test before November of your senior year, or the ACT no later than October. Early-decision applicants to the College of Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences are strongly urged to take the SAT II Subjects Tests no later than November, because the scores are used in those colleges' early-decision selection process. Otherwise, you'll need to take any required SAT II Subject Tests by December so your scores can be used in the regular decision process if you are not admitted under early decision. (Scores are also used for placement purposes for enrolled students.)

Best regards,
The Admissions Staff

so SAT II's in nov, but not SAT I?

i'm going to call the admissions office some day to make sure if the e-mail..well, correct. i don't get why the SAT I has to be taken in oct, but SAT II in oct OR nov.. lol

and on the CB website, SAT scores are given a 2 day priority to be sent to colleges for ED applicants..

yeah SAT I should have happened your junior year (summer after junior year at latest)

you should be ok with SAT IIs in October, but if you have yet to take SAT I then do so at November and have them rushed...

So if I wish to take some SAT II subject tests in November, do I need to rush them?

if you would like to boost some SAT scores that you already have go ahead and take them...and send them ASAP

resurgambell, does that mean that you CAN take the SAT I in nov for ED??

asian sensation: No you cannot. "Reasoning test no later than October."

^ yeah, but why are we allowed to take the SAT II in nov but not the SAT I?

i'm just curious about the logic behind that..><

asian sensation: They look at your SAT I first. That's the only possible reason.

even with the 2 day priority? LOL ok...thanks...

Hmm... I don't quite understand the tone of your reply... and I don't understand what you mean by "with the 2 day priority."

Apparently Cornell needs to see your SAT I scores at the end of October and SAT II scores at the end of November. This is the only possible reason contributing to the varied deadline.

And also, not everything needs a reason. Follow NIKE's commercial, "JUST DO IT."

sure, thanks..

but i think your tone could've been gentler =

asian sensation: That's really ironic that you're saying this.

they are correct Cornell does weigh SAT I more than they weigh SAT IIs...

usually SAT IIs are best taken after one has completed the course of the subject being tested but for those of you who didnt realize Cornell wanted SAT IIs you're probably taking them at the last minute :<

so here's what i recommend...have an SAT I score available and then take your SAT IIs...retake SAT I if you think you can bump your score in order to be considered for regular admission later...

^ thanks resurgambell

since i'm a sophomore going junior, it's better if i get my SAT II's and SAT I out of the way in my junior year than rush them in my senior year

thanks (:

asian sensation: Take them ASAP, with preparation, of course. 'Nuff said. ^.^

^ i will (:

thanks ;D
