Rush Week

Someone want to tell me what it's like, for guys? From what I've heard you just turn up to a frat at the allocated time and talk to people? I'm gonna be doing this on my own so I see it being really awkward.

I'm also not a big drinker and am a junior transfer, is that gonna make my life difficult? Basically I'm not your 'typical' frat boy but I wanna give it a shot.

also how much of a time commitment is pledging - considering I need to focus on gpa and already have 1-2 commitments ?

Do frat rankings matter? I don’t personally care but is it something I should consider? What are the dry frats like?

Most houses, particularly “top” houses will not even consider a junior transfer. Some don’t really care, as long as the guy is a good fit for the House. Pledging time commitment varies a lot based on the House. For the “elite” houses, expect a lot of grunt work and an extensive time commitment. Some houses are a lot more relaxed/reasonable about pledging. Rankings apply almost exclusively to the sorority relations of a House, which is correlated with the House’s general wealth and social prestige. Personally, I don’t think that those reasons alone should determine your or anyone’s choice of house. Find a place where you fit well and feel like you could enjoy your next few semesters at.
