Rushing a Frat in the Spring?

Sup. It's 6:45 AM.

I'm wondering if I could get any information at all about spring rushing for fraternities.

I have been trying to read up on it because I was unable to pledge during the fall semester of this year (I'm a Freshman) because of a complication with my admission that required me to receive at least a 3.0 in my first semester, else I would not be allowed to stay and I didn't want to have to focus on frat-related things AND keep my grades up. Pledging in the Fall sounded like a recipe for getting below this awesome 3.0 GPA I needed. (I ended up with a 3.1 in case you were wondering. I know you were, guys).

I did rush and visited about 8 frats in the fall. Unfortunately no bids, but hilariously enough, two of them THOUGHT they gave me a bid and tried to get me to sign. Of the ones I visited I am considering going back to (In no particular order): Chi Psi (were chill guys), Theta Xi (thought I had a bid), and Kappa Sigma (thought I had a bid). I am hilariously unaware of the standing of the frats at UIUC by the way. I'm also very interested in visiting some other frats I did not visit last semester. The only ones I know I want to visit at the moment are Sig Eps and possibly Fiji (sp?). I feel I should mention that I have also been invited to visit Phi Delt because my dad and uncle and some other various family members were brothers there, but I do not have much interest because it seems to have one of the most run-down houses of all the frats.

From all the reading I did at around 4-5 AM this morning, and also from talking to various members at the frats I visited, it's hell to be a spring pledge. BUT apparently not nearly on the level of hell that it is to be a sophomore pledge and so on. Apparently you could potentially find some relief if you are just a cool dude who doesn't give many s. I'd like to consider myself someone who doesn't give *s too often, but then again, I am the mother***er staying up until 6:45AM a day before he goes back to school researching the ups and downs to rushing in the spring.

Fellow members of the Illini Nation, and frat members in general, help a brother out!
