Rushing as a 2nd Year Transfer

Hello everyone! So I would just like everyone's opinion on my little dilemma. I'm a first year transfer right now and I missed fall recruitment. I'm going to be at UCSD for a total of 3 years and I was wondering if anyone thinks I should wait until next fall to rush a sorority.

I heard Tri Delta has spring recruitment, and I'm very interested in rushing for Tri Delta but I know that there's the possibility of the sorority not being for me. So if that's the case, should I just rush in the fall? My only worries is that I will be too old (I'll be 22) and also because I think I will technically have senior status by the upcoming fall.

You should probably just wait until the Fall, Tri Delta isn’t doing Spring Recruitment as of right now but that could possibly change I guess. In fact, I don’t know any Panhellenic sororities that have officially decided to do Spring Recruitment.

I do like the idea of waiting until fall, but I just wonder if there is such thing as being too old to rush and pledge. Is there such thing?

Definitely not. I know Greek women of every age and maturity level, it does not really matter. I don’t see it being a problem at all. The Panhellenic sororities should advertise if they are doing Spring Recruitment so if you still don’t feel comfortable waiting (But seriously, don’t worry about it, it’s not a problem! You won’t be alone! Some 4th and 5th years go through rush because they want that experience before they leave, I’m sure you’ll meet plenty!), you could see then.

Agreed, wait until fall! YOU personally will not be too old, but just know that some chapters are not allowed to take 4th years or take very few. You shouldn’t have a problem in general, but it wouldn’t hurt to make friends in the sororities now!

I guess I can wait but I’m really interested in Kappa Alpha Theta (from initial impressions and from what I’ve read on their website) and I know they only go through formal recruitment. Do you guys know if they even take seniors? By the way, thanks for all the responses! It’s so helpful and informative!
