Rushing as a sophomore (and gpa requirements)

I've been wanting to join a fraternity for quite some time now, but I did not do so well academically this past semester (I barely passed the GPA requirement to rush). Because of this, I'm thinking of postponing rush until next year in order to get my grades up. Are there any disadvantages to rushing and joining a frat in your sophomore year? Also, besides the university's gpa requirement to join a fraternity, do houses have gpa requirements of their own?

Yeah the frats are not going to care about your gpa.

Some houses are also much less receptive to sophomores than they are to freshmen.
