DD is going to be a freshman this fall and is considering rushing for the sororities. But, I am concerned that the time commitment of the sororities and first year may be too much for her. Should she decide to wait until Spring, is it the same process? Is it harder to make it into a sorority if she waits?

My daughter rushed in the fall and I encourage it rather than waiting for Winterfest or whatever it will be called this next year. She has required study hours with her sorority so that may help with at least one of your concerns. There are so many positives (and some negatives) that I really feel like the decision to add a sorority on top of her other obligations was a good one. Typically, in the spring rush there are fewer houses to choose from as not all houses take girls then. I think there were quite a few this last year that chose not to do spring rush including the one my daughter
