"rushing" sat scores?

if i don't rush them, collegeboard says "scores will be sent within three to five weeks." i had no idea it took so long! but schools need the scores by their deadlines (jan 1, jan 15) right? if i rushed them, it would cost $130, but i think i might have to. arggh i'm so stupid for waiting this long.

anyone?.......

someone answer this.

And, Are SAT scores REALLY due by the deadline?!

Are they? I have no idea. And now I'm reading that some schools don't accept rush reports. In that case, if they are due by the deadline, I'm completely screwed. Please, does anyone know anything about this?? I don't know what to do.

Most schools accept January tests. Check their websites or call the schools that require the test you're in January.

I suppose you can rush the scores for Jan 1st, but the 15 you will be fine. Which schools are you sending them to?

But if it can take five weeks they might not get there by the 15th, right? (Bryn Mawr, Carleton, Oberlin, Middlebury, and Rice.) I would just go ahead and rush them all to be safe and screw the exorbitant cost, but now I don't even know if the schools accept rush reports. I looked on all their websites and couldn't find anything about it, except that for Rice I'm OK because they accept January tests. Thanks anyway though : /

Call their offices.

SAT grades are NOT due by deadline.

Thank You.

Thanks so much everyone...I don't know what I would do without this site : )
Yeah, I'm just going to call them tomorrow and find out if I need to rush or not. I guess the rush reports are paper and the regular ones are electronic (which begs the question of why does it take 5 weeks if it's electronic? how I hate Collegeboard!) so some schools prefer regular even if it takes longer.

Hey I had the same problem!

I'm taking the ACT + Writing this Saturday but the score report deadline in Boston University is Jan. 15.... or maybe Jan 3rd.

I'm gonna call the university, but am I gonna be screwed?

Btw- I didn't know you could rush, can you do that with ACT too?

Yes, you can rush the ACT too. There are three options - Priority, Mailgram, and Regular. They explain the time frames for each when you register to send the scores.

The College Board claims that it will take forever to send the scores out mostly to sap money from us worried applicants. I sent my scores early for ed and the schools received them in less than two weeks. It is not guaranteed by college board to be shipped so quickly but ultimately they were for me. Good Luck Gloaming! (Iapplied to Carleton ed and am waiting to hear back)

I took my first SAT I in Jan last year and before the score was out I listed all the schools I applied to in the admission ticket. It worked fine. My Wellesley status said that they received my score (no rush score sent) on Feb 10 and the score was available when they needed. Last year the Jan SAT was administered on Jan 22 and after approx. 2 weeks my score was sent. It was not too bad and I think you may want to give a try.
Btw Wellesley said applicants must take SAT no later than December but they still accepted my Jan SAT score.

thanks everyone : )

wait, what if I sent in my score before they ever knew that I wanted to apply, would they keep my score for later when I'm applying?

They keep it in a DB.

So, in case anyone cares what happened, I called the schools and got one of two responses:
1. It's completely ok if your score arrive after the deadline; no need to rush them. We'll just wait to evaluate your application until then, and you will be at no disadvantage.
2. It probably won't hurt you, but if your application happens to come up early, it might be an issue. You could rush them but you don't have to.
As a result of this, I rushed them. Collegeboard is eating my soul : )
