History, Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Business, another language, English, Film Studies, Computer Science, Linguistics... pretty much any liberal arts major complements it. It's a VERY useful major & and language.

Some real life examples: I'm majoring in Russian & French. I have friends who are studying Russian & Linguistics, Russian & Computer Science, and Russian & Economics, among other subjects. Depending on the school, you'll be able to count a number of your Russian (Lit and/or History) courses for another department--I'll be getting an English minor based entirely on my Russian Lit courses.

It's an incredibly difficult and mind-numbing major at times, but it's totally worth it.

Happy Russianing :)

I know this isn't directly applicable to your situation since my family's European, but my mom double majored in Russian and Economics, with an emphasis on international economics. She's worked for the Swedish Foreign Ministry (equivalent to the State Department), the European Commission, and the World Bank.

Thanks!! I was considering International Relations.. I was originally a political science major because I want to go to law school... would International Relations/ Russian be the best choice for proceeding to law school?

I mean I know you can study just about anything and go to law school but I am trying to think of the best combo that will make me the most hireable

Well, what is your interest? I'd recommend choosing something you like, but I'd suggest linguistics or another language, if you really want the second major to complement your Russian major. (Fiat lingua! >8])

Russian and Philosophy. It has a nice ring to it.

Thanks a lot!
