Has anyone participated in a "Rustic Pathways" summer trip? Could you share your experiences, positive or negative? I'm thinking about doing the "Soccer and Service" program in the Fiji Islands, specifically... but i'm pretty open minded as many of the different programs sound interesting.

Would a program like this be really helpful for college?
And is the actual experience fun/rewarding?

1) Older daughter went to Fiji after senior year as a gift; she went on Fiji explorer…younger daughter just returned from NewOrleans for Spring break

2) Programs are not helpful for college but the actual experience for both of them was both fun and rewarding…

3) there was a time where kids got alot out of these programs that were helpful for college admissions; now admissions people just look at the summer programs as expensive travel programs; does that mean you shouldn’t go??? I don’t think so; I think being exposed to other cultures and other students from all over the US is a great experience even if the admissions people don’t care…

As far as college goes, my reasoning is: I am very passionate about soccer, and the Soccer and Service combines community service, seeing other cultures, etc. with something I love to do. I don’t know, so I thought it may be good for apps!
