Has anyone filled out the Rutgers 2022 application yet? It’s not accepting my daughter’s essay. It adds a bunch of characters, even though it was saved as a txt file and pasted as plain text. Even retyping isn’t working.
The character length in word and google docs is under the limit.
We are having the same issue. My daughter is trying to submit her essay as well.
They escalated to IT so I’ll let you know if we hear anything. I sent screen shots to them. I can’t believe more people aren’t having a problem! It’s a new system for them though.
Has your daughter tried again? They said it was updated and should work now. They suggest pasting as plain text, but that wasn’t the problem before. My daughter has not tried.
Yes. She says she just went thru and deleted some stuff and it submitted. Not sure if that was the way to go but the application is submitted.
The Rutgers application was extremely glitchy and kept freezing. We had to enter the name of D’s high school about 20 times. It was a long and frustrating process to complete the application.
D did enjoy that one of the reasons you could pick for applying there was “ My parents made me apply.”
This is consistent with the complete failure of their Unsubscribe function in marketing email. I now have an Outlook rule to just delete them.
It’s a new application so I’m giving them a break. Thanks for the updates!
It’s still not fixed. My essay is within 3800 characters and there is no way I can load the essay in. I have to edit and delete a bunch before the app will take the essay!
Did you try paste as plain text? Does your essay look weird after you try to save it? I’d reach out.

The essay does not look weird. It just keep saying it’s too long (but very sure that it’s only about 3600 characters including space). So I keep cutting it down, until one time, it went through and saved!
The most buggy thing is, I follow a link to start a application in their site, and I was directed to the old portal! I didn’t know until at some point they ask me if I am a 2021 student, then I realized that it is the old portal!

It’s a bit of a mess for them. We’re waiting for them to connect SAT scores with the app. But there’s not a rush as long as they get it all figured out by the end of October.
I am waiting for the ACT test as well. We ordered about a week ago.
My kids app still says submitted but hasn’t been reviewed yet. Does this seem correct? Applied Aug. 1.
Do they have a checklist?
Is your SAT score linked yet? I have been waiting for the ACT to be linked…. It has been over a week already. No update on the portal.

If you’re on google docs, download it as a plain text file (.txt) and copy paste it from there. Gdocs embeds formatting and adds extra characters!
I tried that and nothing worked, but it’s good to know! They did make some change on their end.

Has anyone applied with the Coalition app? Everything looked fine in the pdf before submitting but it didn’t translate over well in the Rutgers portal. Activities are all crammed and truncated into the activity name box and most of the profile sections are missing. My son emailed the admissions office. Should we be reaching out to someone else for tech support? The Rutgers portal has his application locked so we can’t make any updates.
