Rutgers and Michigan are two places I have been very interested in applying to. However, I also don’t want to have to pay for undergraduate. From what I’ve seen and heard, the typical statistics for a full ride at Rutgers are a 35 ACT, 4.0 GPA, rigorous course load, and high class rank along with some extra curricular activities. Does anyone know if I am wrong on this or any more information about Rutgers’ full ride scholarships? I have seen statistics for Michigan’s acceptance, but I have not been able to find out about Michigan full rides to date. Is there any information on that as well?
Are you in-state for either one? Based on my experiences with Rutgers, stats like that would give you a shot at the Presidential (full ride) or Trustee (full tuition) scholarships, but only if you are in-state. Not very familiar with UMich, but I would imagine OOS the merit scholarships are nearly impossible to get - securing admission as an OOS kid is hard enough.
I am out of state for both schools. How would that affect my chances for these scholarships?
The Rutgers Presidential scholarship has a dollar amount that approximates a full ride for New Jersey residents, but approximates full tuition for out-of-state residents.
Full rides at UMich are very limited and highly competitive particularly for OOS. They will look beyond your test scores and GPA. For in state students, they meet the need and it would be easier to get full rides with grants included. I can testify that ACT 35, uwGPA4.0, 800s in all SAT2, and 5 in all APs may still not get you a full ride there even for an in state student.
