Hello all,
I have read that Anthropology at Rutgers is an outstanding program. I was recently accepted to UCSB and while happy about that, I am a bit worried as far as location is concerned for internship opportunities. I may also want to go to law school but that is still something I have yet to determine. My question is, seeing that UCSB overall is ranked higher than Rutgers, do you think it would be beneficial to attend Rutgers instead because of the Anthro program and it's proximity to major urban areas?
Thanks ahead of time.

Hi norcaltransfer77! I’m also a prospective anthro major and im about 90% sure that I will be attending Rutgers. Rutgers anthropology is one of the top programs in the nation and I believe that you will have a fulfilling experience there!

Tallperson, thanks for the reply, 90% sure? What’s the other 10% telling you? What aspect of anthropology interests you the most? I really think the evolutionary path looks amazing. I have yet to see a comparable program from any of the other schools I have applied too.

The other 10% was just me waiting to see if I got a merit scholarship to another school that I was accepted to (I didn’t get it haha). So now I’m definitely going to Rutgers. I am also interested in evolutionary but cultural and linguistic anthro are fascinating, as well. I’m excited!

I have nothing to comment about whether or not you should go to Rutgers for anthropology cough-youshould-cough , but as I was reading this thread I felt I HAD to express how I think what you wish to do is awesome. I too find the evolutionary roots of humans, and all animals in fact, VERY fascinating, which is why I’ll be majoring in Ecology, Evolution and Natural Resources at Rutgers Anyway, just thought I’d tell you ^-^ And do not listen to those people who say “oh you’ll make no money, pick a better career path” (I assume you’ve heard this because I most certainly have lol) Just follow your dream.

ZuzuTweet^^^ Thanks! Very cool major for you as well. Rutgers is calling me, although I am probably going to end up in law school. But it really depends. I do have a huge interest in working as a curator at a large metropolitan museum. Not sure. Waiting on some responses from other schools. Mainly UCLA, and NYU.

I just finished my cultural anthro dual enrollment class - loved it!! Anyone here know anything about Beloit’s anthro?
