Rutgers C/O 2021 Admissions/Discussion

@KPat11 did u get waitlisted?

If you get waitlisted, you don’t send to the Reconsideration Committee. Only if you get rejected, but they rarely change their mind.

Is there any chance we will hear back before May if wait listed and is the percentage of wait listed people who get accepted high?

I did read online that some people heard back before May, but I guess May is when they usually tell us. I guess it depends on how many people decide to enroll. One year everyone was accepted off the waitlist for Pharm. @BusiGuy

I got waitlisted from engineering.

So sorry for those who did not get the news that they hoped for today. Waitlist info from admissions counselor on Go Rutgers.

"High school students on the wait list should submit updated senior mid-year grades into the Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) as soon as they become available, but no later than March 15 of your senior year.
If we determine that we have space for additional students, we will review all those on the waiting list and select from among them. Preference is given to students who have submitted updated grade reports. The number of students on the waiting list varies from year to year, and students are not ranked on the waiting list. If we decide to take students from the waiting list, we admit the most competitive students. We cannot guarantee that you’ll be accepted from a waiting list. When reviewing the waiting list, students who have submitted their most recent semester grades are reviewed first.

We typically don’t know if we will have room to offer any students admission from the waiting list until those we have admitted notify us of their decision to attend or not. They are not required to do so until May 1. We can only say that you will receive notification about your final wait list status either way by mid-August. Of course if we know we have space sooner then we are happy to admit additional students off of the waiting list sooner. However, that can really vary from year to year and school to school.

We cannot guarantee admission from the waiting list. Since you have already been offered admission to the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences you should consider accepting that offer while you remain on the waiting list for School of Arts and Sciences. This guarantees your seat in our incoming class. If we are able to offer you admission to the School of Art and Sciences from the waiting list and you prefer to attend that school then at that time you can switch your school of enrollment with no additional admissions acceptance fee required"

I’m honestly so depressed right now over all of this. I really only want to go to Rutgers and no where else :confused: I really hope they accept me off the waitlist now.

@brokebrowngirl aw Im so sorry to hear that :frowning:

Also I was just wondering when do I get the email that invites me to Gorutgers?

@brokebrowngirl You’ll be fine don’t worry. I know how you feel, I got waitlisted to my first choice and to make u feel better try not to check too much on this forum cause more people are going to start talking about rooming and going to rutgers and it’s going to make you feel worse. You’ll get in don’t worry have faith! GOOD LUCK:)

@brokebrowngirl are you in the New Jersey area?
You might consider going to visit the school one weekday afternoon and ask to see admissions. The receptionist will seat you for a few minutes and someone from admissions may come out to talk to you, then you can briefly share with them that how very concerned you are that you were waitlisted and that you want to show them that you are very interested in getting into this school. I honestly can’t see a negative in this other than you’ll miss one day of your highschool class. I can only see this as a chance for that admissions person to go right back iinto his office and pull your file and stamp an ‘accepted’ on there.

@bobrader1998 Thank you so much! I hope you get in too!! Good luck!

@reformedman Yes, I live in NJ. Ten-ish minutes away from Rutgers actually. I was going to write them an e-mail basically stating my concerns and my interest in Rutgers, but I could totally go there in person, as well. I don’t know which one would be a better option to do.

@brokebrowngirl

A visit will be much better for sure.

@brokebrowngirl Don’t worry, you’ll be alright! Im sorry that you were waitlisted but remember that they had the opportunity to deny you, but they chose to waitlist you, this is a good sign as it is. If it makes you feel any better I wasnt admitted to SAS, im still waiting on Newark CAS, and Im stuck at a university which I dont like rn lol

I got waitlisted from SAS and sebs with a 3.23 and an 1810 in state, taking 3 APs and 1 honors, but have 2 c+'s and 1 C midyear. 2/3 AP’s I have c+ in and the other I have a b+. Also gotta b+ in the honors course. Really freaking out right now I feel like I’ll get rejected off waitlist, not confident at all :frowning:

Shame on Newark for not sending EA decisions. Still “in process”.

@MomAdvisor3 Agreed, I’d try calling

@brokebrowngirl between calling and showing up, your better bet is showing up. Have a 10 minute talk with them and ask for questions. In other words, is there anything else that I might be able to answer here that could better clarify any question you have of me that perhaps the common app left vague? That will sort of psychologically force them to find a real-concrete-reason why you should be denied.

Everybody can write an email, it shows zero tangible effort to copy/paste it to 10 schools. Showing up shows that THAT IS THE SCHOOL.

Does anyone think we can appeal to the Honors College for an invite?
Also waiting for that FA package…

No, you can’t.
