@Trollair I think it means no scholarship. My son’s Camden Scholarship is clearly listed in the letter. No scholarship for my son for SAS or Pharmacy. Honestly, never expected one, but the Honors Program invite got our hopes up!
I got Trustee Scholarship (13k) for SEBS and SAS…listed on the award letter. Why did it say that total cost of SEBS is a few grand more than cost of SAS?
Daughter accepted to Newark last night. I called yesterday afternoon because as EA we were promised notification by 2/1. I actually got a person on the phone. They asked about HLLC and EOF. She was asked to be in HLLC but we are in no way candidates for EOF. After being put on hold several times, they told us that her decision would be available tomorrow (now today). Sure enough, portal updated after midnight.
Between subsidized and unsubsidized I only got $5,500 and no mention of merit
Where to check for scholarship? Is there a link or the link comes via email?
well, no scholarship so now a waitlister will have a spot open!
Pretty disappointed
My D got Trustee Scholarship ($13K) for SAS & SEBS in her award letter. Can anyone share what their stats were for Presidential Scholarship ?
@ lorhop
How to get to the award letter link? Is it via email?
@lorhop Presidential Scholarships are substantially higher than Trustee Scholarships.
@Doberlady

does anyone know if getting need based aid will affect your chances of receiving merit scholarship?
@sabdel5 No, merit scholarships are independent of need.
@sabdel5 It appears that they have all been communicated together. If you already received an award letter with need info, there is probably no additional merit coming. If this is a broader question, theoretically need and merit are independent. There are those that suggest there is some consideration of need (at least in some cases), but top applicants will get merit with no demonstrated need. There are applicants who will get a merit award and have additional need, so they will get both. Majority of students will only get need based aid. Need can be met in many ways: grant awards can be given that are not paid back, there are loans, work study etc. At the end of the day there is no bottom line difference, in year one, between the need grant and the merit scholarship. If you receive either, it will be applied to the account in the same way. The difference going forward is that the merit awards are renewable with a minimum gap requirement. Grant awards can change in future years based upon the on-going need. People will often use the term scholarship interchangeably between merit awards and grant awards. (Please no political debate on this). Rutgers does not guarantee meeting full need, so theoretically need grants do have some basis in performance (merit) in that two students with the same calculated EFC could get different grants. On the flip side, students with identical performance but different EFC will also not get the same grant amount. Students will an EFC of zero would not get any grant award.
@lorhop What were your D’s stats for the trustee scholarship?
Thanks.
Wow, Rutgers is really expensive compared to other instate schools!
If you don’t mind, can those of you who got merit scholarships of any kind post your stats?
Thank you
